The king, of his special grace, has remitted to his beloved and faithful Roger Bertam of Mitford, John de Baalum, Norman Darcy, Robert de Monteny, Nicholas de Lenham’, Thomas Darcy, Ralph Darcy, William de Munchesney of Edwardstone and Reginald de Baalum, as they are devoted to him and are always ready to give him service, all fees in which they or their ancestors were bound to any of the king’s Jews of England. The king has also pardoned to the abovesaid Roger, John, and his other aforesaid faithful men all interest payments and penalties in which they or their ancestors are bound to the same Jews by their charters, namely in the money which the aforesaid Roger, John and the other faithful men took as a loan from 1 the abovesaid Jews and are bound to render to them, about which monies the abovesaid Roger, John and the other faithful men are believed to have sworn an oath before them [the justices] and before other trustworthy men sworn to this. Order, therefore, to cause all Jews who are presently in the kingdom or the heirs of those who have died, to whom the same faithful men were bound in any debt, to have certain days and places to come before them, to cause all charters by which they were bound to all Jews of England in any debts or fees to be extracted from the chests of the chirographs of the Jews and to cause them to be delivered to the same, to cause them to be quit from the aforesaid fees, penalties and interest payments, and to cause this to be done and enrolled thus, so that the abovesaid Roger, John and the king’s other aforesaid faithful men satisfy the same Jews for the said monies so accepted as a loan at the reasonable terms which they [the justices] will assign to them, and so that the said monies so loaned do not accrue any interest. If the abovesaid Jews or any of them are to die, whereby their chattels would escheat to the king, then the aforesaid Roger, John and the others are to satisfy the king for them at the Exchequer. 2

For the praiseworthy service which Roger de Mortimer gives him, the king has granted for himself and his heirs that the same Roger and his heirs might take £100 each year from the farm of the manors of King’s Norton and Bromsgrove in Worcestershire by the hand of the sheriff of Worcestershire who will be for that time, at the same term at which he is accustomed to render the same farm to the king at the Exchequer until the king or his heirs will provide Roger or his heirs with 100 librates of land from the king’s escheats or his other lands that are not of his demesne or pertain to his crown. If, by chance, it happens that the farmers of the aforesaid manors do not pay the aforesaid £100 at future terms, the king wishes and grants that the aforesaid sheriffs might distrain the aforesaid farmers by the view of Roger or his heirs or of any others in their stead assigned to this, in order to render the aforesaid £100 annually to Roger or his heirs, as aforesaid, on condition, however, that the aforesaid farmers shall answer the king at the Exchequer for the residue of the farm of the aforesaid manors just as they had previously been accustomed to do.
