Order to cause Geoffrey to have full seisin of all the lands and tenements 3 that William held in chief of the king and of which he was seised as of fee on the day he died.

The king has taken the homage of Nicholas, brother and heir of Master Alexander le Seculer, for all the lands and tenements which Master Alexander held of the king in chief. Order that, having accepted security from Nicholas for rendering to the king the 50 m. by which he made fine with him for his relief, they are to cause him to have seisin of all the lands and tenements of which Master Alexander was seised as of fee on the day he died and which fall to Nicholas by hereditary right.

Concerning the execution of the testament of Henry Darel. To Henry of Wingham. Order that, having taken security from the executors of the testament of Henry Darel, formerly the king’s escheator in Middlesex, for one mark to the king’s use, at which he was amerced before Henry of Bath and his associates, justices of the Bench, and that they will answer to the king for his escheats from the time when the aforesaid Henry was the king’s escheator in the aforesaid county if there are any from that period to be answered for, he is to cause all chattels of the aforesaid Henry to be delivered to the same executors.

The king has taken into his hand the debt of 30 m. in which William de Criketot is bound to Aaron son of Abraham, Jew of London, and has granted to William that each year he is to pay 100s. at the Exchequer at two terms, a moiety at the Exchequer of Easter and the other moiety at the Exchequer of Michaelmas, until the same debt has been paid. Order to the justices assigned to the custody of the Jews that, having accepted security from the same W. for paying the said debt to the king, as aforesaid, they are to cause this to be done, to cause the aforesaid 30 m. to be allowed to the abovesaid Jew in the debt he owes to the king, and to cause the charter and his pledges, which the same Jew has, to be delivered to the same William. 1

They are to allow to Master Gilbert de Wiarville, in the fine of 200 m. which he made with the king for the land of Overstone, the 50 m. that he delivered by the king’s order to the king’s beloved and faithful Richard de Gray in part recompense for his expenses that he incurred in his equipment to go on the king’s service in Gascony, to which parts the king had proposed to send him so that he would on that occasion act as his seneschal in those parts (ut in partibus illis fungeretur vice senescalli nostri). 1

Order to the barons of the Exchequer to cause Roger to be quit from the aforesaid 20 m. and to cause him to have the aforesaid terms for the remaining 20 m.
