Henry, son of Henry son of Simeon , and Robert Owein have made fine with the king by £80 so that the outlawry which ought to have been promulgated against them in the county court of Oxfordshire last past, namely on Thursday last before St. Dunstan, for the death of Oxford scholars , of which they have been accused before the king’s justices assigned to this and for which they have been summoned in the county court of Oxfordshire by order of the king, be placed in respite until the king orders otherwise, so that in the meantime they do not enter the vill or county of Oxford or the county of Berkshire until they can obtain another act of grace from the king about this, and that the men will stand before all men in the king’s court who will wish to say anything against them concerning this, which pertains to the peace and crown of the king. 1

Order to the sheriff of Oxfordshire that, having accepted good and sufficient security for the aforesaid Henry and Robert for rendering the aforesaid £80 to the king, that they will not enter the aforesaid counties of Oxfordshire and Berkshire and the vill of Oxford, and that they will stand, as aforesaid, he is to place the aforesaid outlawry in respite until he has command from the king otherwise, notwithstanding that if, in the meantime, both or either one of them will be found in his bailiwick against the king’s statute, he is to seize both or either one of them according to that which will be found and keep them safely in the king’s prison until the king orders otherwise. 1 Witness W. archbishop of York.

Order to the sheriff of Lancaster that, having accepted security from William for 3 m. to the king’s use for his relief, he is to cause him to have full seisin of all lands that Adam held of the king in chief in his bailiwick and of which he was seised as of fee on the day he died. The king has rendered to Ascelina, sister and one of the heirs of John [de] Cotele , the third part of the lands formerly of the same John that falls to her by inheritance and that the king retained in his hand because she did not come to him to do towards him what she ought to have done when he rendered two thirds of those lands to Eleanor, William de Lucy and Matilda, his wife, Eleanor and Matilda being her sisters and the co-heirs of the aforesaid John . Order to the sheriff of Hampshire that, having accepted security from Ascelina for 18s. 4½d. for her relief to the king’s use, he is to cause her to have full seisin of the aforesaid third part of the lands of the same John in his bailiwick, which the king retained in his hand, as aforesaid, on condition that Ascelina shall come to the king upon his return from overseas parts to do homage to him for this and to do what she ought. For Gerard la Grue, concerning the lands formerly of Peter de Maulay. The king has committed to 1 Gerard la Grue all lands formerly of Peter de Maulay at farm by paying 500 m. annually at the Exchequer, namely a moiety at the Exchequer of Michaelmas and the other moiety at the Exchequer of Easter, so that Gerard is to keep the castle of Mulgrave at his own costs and is to find Peter’s mother all that she will need, and he will keep all buildings in those lands in a good state and will make no sale of woodland or destruction of men or ponds, saving to the king the wardships, escheats, marriages, and reliefs arising from those lands and advowsons of churches. Robert of Lathom has made fine with the king by £100 and 15 m. for three palfreys for having the custody of the portion of the lands that falls by inheritance to Thomas de Chaworth, nephew and one of the heirs of Thomas son of Robert , who holds of the king in chief, until the legal age of the same Thomas, whose custody remained in the king’s hand because he was underage when the king gave seisin to the abovesaid Robert and Joan, his wife, parcener of the same Thomas and one of the heirs of the same Thomas son of Robert, of the portion that fell to Joan from the aforesaid lands, of which Thomas son of Robert was seised on the day he died, saving to the king all wardships, escheats, marriages and advowsons of churches which might fall in to the king by reason of the custody of the portion of the same Thomas de Chaworth, and saving to the king the marriages of other heirs of the same Thomas if, by chance, he happens to die, so that nothing of the aforesaid shall accrue to Robert by reason of that custody. Order to the sheriff of Nottinghamshire that, having accepted security from Robert for rendering the aforesaid £100 and 15 m. for the three palfreys to the king at the below-written terms, namely 50 m. at the Exchequer of Michaelmas in the twenty-sixth year, 50 m. at Easter next following the twenty-seventh year, 50 m. at Michaelmas in the same year, and 15 m. at Easter next following the twenty-eighth year, he is to cause him to have full seisin of the custody of the portion of Thomas de Chaworth in his bailiwick. Amioter son of David, Jew of Nottingham , has made fine with the king by 200 m. for quittance of the arrears that the abovesaid D., his father , owed the king 1 and for having all lands, gages and chattels formerly of David, his father , of which he is to render 25 m. at All Saints in the twenty-seventh year, 25 m. at Easter next following in the same year, and thus from year to year, and thereafter 50 m. from year to year at Michaelmas and Easter, until the aforesaid 200 m. are paid to the king. Order, permitting him to have the aforesaid terms to render the aforesaid debt to the king, to cause him to be quit from the arrears which D., his father, owed the king 2 and to cause him to have full seisin of all lands, gages and chattels formerly of David, his father .
